Continued....

Pre-Brexit, in 2012, Carlotta discovered the idea of photographing “What it means to be European”, travelling around Europe and photographing fellow Italians who moved out of their country of origin.

The photographic series entitled “Modern Couples”, 2012-2014, comprises of couples in subculture, that goes again era with no set plan or definition prior to the subject, the project evolves throughout the duration. Photographing people within their homes or favourite public place, Carlotta began entering this project into competitions, specifically with judges who would be interested in viewing her work. The project got accepted into exhibitions and a Photographic Festival in the South of France, providing Cardana with a broader audience.

Since this Cardana has shot for a variety of magazines such as Photo Ville, in New York and French Magazine, Lubbs. When shooting commercially Cardan resorts back to digital cameras as film processing is far too expensive.

Then the Pandemic hit. Carlotta went months without work to produce. She was sent to photograph the plinth in Bristol after it was taken down and produce storied most people could relate to at the beginning of and throughout the duration of lockdown such as, those locked within hotel rooms, the vaccination programme, and Freedom Day. Despite the struggles of the pandemic, Carlotta found hope through photography as a way to connect with community, family, and friends.
