In order to produce a high-quality framed print for my final year exhibition I decided to visit AC Gallery in Huddersfield. When first visiting I met shop assistant Glennis, who recommend a variety of frames, sizes, and mounts suitable for the image I had in mind. After printing this image at the University and returning to the shop a few days later, Glennis and I spent an hour deciding what frame and mount would be best suited. Her advice was so valuable, and we opted for a 2.5inch D Frame, black with a wood grain. As a rule of thumb, I learnt that the average mount adds and additional 1.5inch between the frame and photograph which I opted for and chose an off-white mount to offset the dark shadows within the image and its surrounding black frame. The overall print now framed is 44inch, with the image alone being 16inch by 20inch and includes a non-reflective glass. Knowing that I am a final year student who resides within the Huddersfield postcode, Glennis very kindly provided me with a 30% discount on the purchase, charging £84 instead of the original £120. If money was no object, I would’ve considered having more images framed, but the overall experience was worthwhile and has provided me with the confidence to ask for external professional’s opinions more often.
